Lake District hotel offers a ‘no rain’ guarantee
Guests at an historic Lake District hotel this summer won’t be too bothered if it rains while they’re on holiday. The Michelin-starred Samling Hotel in Windermere has introduced a ‘no rain’ pledge. They are promising that any guests from now until 30 September 2010 will receive a refund of £100 per stay if a single drop of rain falls on the hotel during their visit.
Andrew MacKay, of The Samling, said: “We’re so convinced that we’re going to have a long hot summer in the Lake District that we’re prepared to gamble on it.”
This may seem a bold move for a hotel in the Lake District, a place renowned for its summertime showers. However, lately, Windermere, along with the rest of the Lake District, is facing a record drought. A hosepipe ban has recently been introduced throughout most of England’s north west for the first time in 14 years.
