Display your memorabilia in a historic house
The National Trust is launching a competition offering the chance to get your most treasured possessions displayed in one of their properties. From 1 September to 1 November, you are invited to take part in Treasure Forever, by submitting a photograph of your favourite object, that has a personal rather than monetary value, as well as the story behind it. A winner will be selected from 11 regions and their objects will be displayed at their local National Trust property next spring.
Perhaps you have a treasured childhood book or toy, or an interesting story behind a collection of photographs? Kathy Lithgow, one of the competition judges, knows what she would enter: “One of my own personal treasures is a beautiful conch shell, brought back by my father, from Papua New Guinea. It’s a lovely old thing in itself, but also reminds me of my father, his life and my childhood.”
